Nobody is able to change the natural rule of life, and we all have to live in this relative world, which has day and night, good and evil, success and failure, love and hatred, wealth and poverty, happiness and pain, etc. No matter what kind of circumstances we are in, there is no sure way to escape from facing the reality and ourselves.

Shakyamuni Buddha is a representative of the Fully Awakened Ones. He was a prince of a kingdom in ancient India. Though he lived in the lap of luxury, he'd sensed the sufferings of the impermanent life. In order to find a way to liberate people from the sufferings of birth, age, sickness and death and for them to reach ultimate peace of mind, he gave up his princely life and left his home to search for the truth. Finally he'd become enlightened to the truth and became a compassionate Fully Awakened One. He considered that all sentient beings were blessed with a pure and awakened mind-nature, but it'd been constantly deluded by worldly delusions. It's very difficult for people to free themselves from the depths of sufferings that they have sunk into.

He realized that all sentient beings and things are impermanent. People were ignorant of the truth of impermanence and failed to realize the real nature of this world, but instead they keep desiring to catch the material things and keep running after this impermanent happiness, which are the main causes of human sufferings as we will pursue it our whole lives while getting nothing in the end.

Buddha inspired people to cultivate a compassionate heart, remove evil and do good unto others. In this way we can gradually get rid of bias and greed to finally surpass worldly troubles to reach the ultimate piece of mind, overcoming the deep-seated disposition to desire, detestation and delusion. However, these points of view are very difficult to clearly recognize and to put into practice. That's way most people are continuing to suffer.

The cultivation and transformation of one's mind and spirit are influenced by the inner and outside situations so that the ambiance of surroundings might gradually mould people's characters.

Therefore, the principal purpose of contemplating Buddha is to help lead people to concentrate their thoughts deeply into the state of mind inspired by the spiritual inner meanings of the Buddha's image, and help people cultivate a reverent and compassionate heart to gradually eliminate their self-conceit and egoism. When one's self-conceit and egoism have been gradually removed, one's wisdom of life will get more nourishment and can grow.

The Crystal Shakyamuni Buddha was developed to encourage meaningful donations for a multitude of projects in Taiwan. For a specific donation amount, the Crystal Buddha will be given to the donor as a thank you. Most of these donations are used for supporting some special projects, especially on religious and cultural works.
